History
The Variette Cultural Club was founded by Reba Hill on March 31, 1962 in order to meet the needs of deprived students and to provide access to cultural events. The name, Variette Cultural Club, was selected because there were a variety of occupations such as homemakers, educators, and secretaries within the membership. The Officers and Charter Members elected at the first meeting were Freda Phillips, President; Mamie Davis, Vice President; Delores Silver, Secretary; Ruby Hudson, Assistant Secretary; Jean McKinney, Treasurer; Geneva Bascum, Reporter and Ethel Graves, Parliamentarian .
We believe all women can embrace who they are, can define their future, and can change the world.
